The core of CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) is Computerized Numerical Control (CNC programming for short), which generates NC Code through Computer programming that machine tool equipment can access. So the machine tool equipment can operate more accurately, more efficiently and cost-effienciently. CAM software is referred generally to which has the function of CAM software, like ZWCAD, ZW3D, CAXA, UG, Hypermill and so on.
CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) : the process of using a computer for production equipment management, control and operation. Its input information is the process route and process content of machine part while its output information is the trajectory of cutting tools when processing(cutter location file) and the NC program.
The programming of processing procedure not only requires plentiful supply of people but also is error-prone. One of the earliest CAM is computer aided processing of machine part. The programming language APT that Massachusetts Institute of Technology used in 1950 when it researched and developed machine parts of CNC machine is a high-level language like FORTRAN. The enhancement of geometric definition, tool motion and other statements in APT makes it easier to program. This kind of computer aided programming is batch processing. CAM system generally has the function of data conversion and process automation. CAM can be used for computer numerical control and computer aided process design.
