Troubleshooting Tips (DO NOT modify zw3d data files with a text editor! )

\DO NOT open ZW3D data files (i.e., filename.Z3) and edit them with a text editor!  Text editors can replace all of the newline (nl) characters with carriage-return/newline ( ) sequences.

This changes the size of data in the file without changing the data sizes stored in object control blocks.  It throws off the sequential read of data from the file.  Starting with v14.10 we now check for bogus carriage returns ( ) in an object file header.  If they are found, you are given an option to allow ZW3D to remove them.  This does not guarantee the file will read properly because it could have other forms of corruption.  

In general, any attempt to hand edit an object file is NOT a good idea.
