Hi gjohn

I'm going to send you an updated CamTime, for VX v12.55, to try out later today. You must save your VX file before using CamTime. Most of the VxDALs require a macro language fix that should be arriving in v12.60. Certainly some of the VxDAL programs can and will be incorporated into VX in the future. The VxDAL language itself has been changed significantly in v12. Now, this is the cause of delay in updating my existing programs, but it should mean that in the future the VxDALs will be a bit more future-proof.

If some of these things were just added to VX we wouldn't have to wait for a new installer every time a new version comes out. I would love to use CAM time again.

Hi Mudcrab

A VxDAL installer working from within VX itself sounds good but there are a lot of issues in the way of such a design, because VX is actually using resources that have to be changed to install the VxDALs - this is why the current installer asks you to ensure that VX is not running.

The original VxDAL installer would install a collection in one go. It was loved by some, hated by others, so the "self installing" design evolved to make the process quick and simple for everyone.

I am not sure that having all the Macros built in is the right solution for me. Having a selection to pick from has it's merits too.

The real issue for me is more about durability. I need macros to be more readily migrated from version to version and very easy to install.
The fact that they are not enduring across Version majors, (11 to 12 etc) is a serious problem once a dependency exists, which for me is Foil Curves In and

As for installation, the ideal would be for the Version relevant installer to be embedded within VX with a macro library folder as part of the User folder set. Simply download the macros you want to the folder, run Macro Install from a button or menu in VX, pick the macros and let VX do the rest.

In summary, EASY, QUICK and DURABLE gets my vote.

Like others I'd prefer to have the macros integrated into the application rather than having to install them individually. Particularly the ones that affect the appearance or ease of selection/alteration of drawing and sketch items. Perhaps this could be a phased thing for v13 release?

Yes, CamTime is popular, together with CamGeom. On the CAD side of things, several programs compete for the "top slot". The batch processing programs, FineView, IncMechanism (and on the 2D Layout side, BendLines) are all mentioned a lot in dispatches. Not had as much feedback about ToggleBack but maybe it is popular -it has been copied by an MCAD rival!

Due to the changes in how the VX v12 engine works, coupled with changes to the macro language itself, updates of the published VxDALs have had to be delayed.

Hi gjohn

Over time, they are being incorporated. ReadySketch for example was originally a VxDAL.

Hello Paul

Most of the library needs to be re-written, so it is going to take a few weeks. I will issue the most popular ones first.
