With so many clients of ours sending drawings with ARX items, compatibility would be very helpful.

Although I would like to see performance upgraded. Perhaps future updates and releases would make use of gpu processing to enhance performance?

Again.
Our users not always <span id="result_" ="short_text" lang="en">set all necessary points by imageclip command. And It will great if you add a possibility to add a points to "clipping (also changeable) line", may be by right click on them.

Ok, the second function (We need both functions!) is operate with file and change them! It also disallow change (move) clipping line after clip.

Hi,

We are considering buying Zwcad for our office, and currently we are testing the 30-day trial version.

The first big problem we have encountered is lack of full .stb support
We really find the .stb system far superior in comparison with the .ctb one - is there a chance for the .stb support in Zwcad soon?

It's cool, but previous version left with a lot of glitches.
So, customers should think twice before buying ZWCAD.
In other case they will pay for upgrades from version to version in hope to get working CAD.

Hi Everyone!

I've used ZWCAD since 2 months and CAD systems sience 10 years.

IMHO could be find in ZWCAD operations on a dimension text, such underline, overline...
As you know, symbols %%o with text overline input text, but not in dimtext When you want to shorten element to save paper, you can't mark dimtext on it with overline.

I usually work with Properties. I can change attributes , dimension text etc. very quickly there.
The advantage of Autocad is that I can input a new single value for the same, selected blocks with various attribute.
The line with an attribute in properties just disappears in ZWCAD.

Eventually, there is a lack of PDF ploter in ZWCAD. What a pity! In PDF printer (f.e. PDFCreator etc.) I can't add more than 1 user's paper size. I use now DWG TrueView

My wishes:
- Full support for Direct3D drivers, so the 3D views would be hardware acelerated and we could set image quality from the graphics card control panel - antialiasing, anisotropic filtering...
- Dynamic blocks with equal funcionality to Autocad
- Attribute extraction to dynamic tables, formatting onf these tables (like in Autocad), dynamic creation and formatting of XLS files.
- Ability to insert smart "field" text which reads values from objects (like in Autocad).

[QUOTE=colin]Hi, everybody, welcome to ZwCAD!

At the moment, we are developing the next version, What do you think which function you need most? We need your suggestion to improve ZwCAD better and better. Thank you your vote!

Dynomic Block,

I was worked on Dynomic Block in Autocad. But I can not edit the same in Zwcad. If you add Dynomic Block in next version it is great goal for zwcad.girish_mother2009-10-27 14:43:30

ZWCAD is almost great. I would like to see a speed improvement. More specifically, when working in paperspace with many locked viewports. And working (panning, zooming, modifying) in a viewport, ZWCAD moves slow. Otherwise the speed would be fine.

Also, it would be great to be able to use the VBA programs I wrote when using autocad without having to rewrite any code.

The stability is almost there.

If these items were improved I would be completely sold!

Hi RevAaron,

I think you must have a good understanding of ZWCAD, thank you very much! We are paying great attention on Publish & dbConnect, the later may not be realized in near future, but they are the target we want to touch! We will make effort on those two aspects.

Thank you!Amanda2009-07-23 18:24:52

The functions we need most:

1. Publish: If the folks at ZW-CAD could get this working like it does in AutoCAD, it'd be a really big advantage over the other IntelliCAD derivatives. I don't think any of the others have it- I know for sure that progeCAD and Bricscad don't.

ZW-CAD does have the function, it just doesn't work quite right. But it's a start- and it'd be a huge feature for our shop!

2. dbConnect: This is a long shot, but if compatibility with dbConnect could be done, we'd have nothing left that needed to be added! :D Something that would let us open up drawings with dbConnect links, change info on the link, make new links, etc. Doesn't have to be fancy. :)

Will waiting for grips in blocks, magnet snap and adding modern models of plotters to list (we have HP DesignJet 500, 800PS, T1100 and some old 430). Maybe "edit text in place" too?
Sad that ARX will not be realised.

About paper orientation.
There is only drawing orientation in print dialog window.
So if I have landscape A2 drawing and wide paper roll on the plotter I should choose "landscape" option in plotter driver too. Overwise drawing will be printed portrate by default.
In Autocad every format in the format list have two lines:

So I can choose paper (not drawing) orientation.

It will be cool if ARX-plugins works. There are already a lot of good tools (free and not).

About grips.
I have block with attribute. Attribute with text. In Autocad this attribute have a grip and I can change position of it without editing block. In ZWCAD the same block doesn't have a grip for attribute.
Autocad:

ZWCAD:

Hi,

1) Still waiting for some sort of selection cycle mode. When using multiple lines on top of eachother being able to cycle through the lines before selecting them would be very helpful. The ommision of this function is the only thing that's really stopping us from switching to ZWCAD in favour of AutoCAD. I know a lot of colleagues think the same about this.

2) What also would be great is the possibility to import and export to the .3ds format. We still have a lot of older projects which were made in 3ds-studio. With ZWCAD we can't import our old files.

Thnx,

Dear all, Sorry for reverting back so late. First about the block editor, that have been submitted to our R&D dept and our R&D dept are considering how to advance it. As for the mvsetup and tool palettes features, we will have plan to add these features in our future version. About the bcount function, ZWCAD2008i supports it, so please take it again. And the important Tracking function, actually, from our 2006 version, it has been improved a lot. Regarding the two small examples, to be honest, I'm a little confused, so could you use a video software to record the operational steps so that we can definitely understanding your meaning to improve the feature? thank you, everyone!

[QUOTE=colin] Hi, everybody, welcome to ZwCAD!

At the moment, we are developing the next version, What do you think which function you need most? We need yoursuggestionto improve ZwCAD better and better. Thank youyour vote!

I provide Advanced/Refresher Autocad training to existing Autocad users in the UK. A successful part of this is tracking. In Autocad you type tk when a command asks to specify a point. The command is then suspended allowing you to pick the first tracking point. You can then use direct distance entry to move the start of the command along the ortho axes. Push enter to end the tracking and the command resumes.

So if you have a line of length 5000, you can start another line 1500 units along it's length without construction lines or circles which would have to be deleted later.

Another example would be to move the corner of a desk in an office to a point whih is 1000 units away from each wall without construction lines.

Autodesk "developed" this facility with the otrack command. Which is not as fast and precise to use as tracking.

Hi,

We currently use approximately 4000 blocks, an integrated block library manager would be great. We would need to be able to categorise and subcategorise blocks as well as search by block name and description. To be able to add columns to the display dynamically would be perfect ( like MS-Outlook). A big part of our work is space planning, so being able to count up the quantities of blocks we've used is essential...

A second request would be for a configurable extractor, similar to the current, but allowing us to configure the attributes that are extracted, including drawing attributes. To be able to extract to different formats would be great too... CSV / MDB / TAB or SQL Server / Oracle support ( The better option ). Mainly so that we could keep track between revisions of drawings of quantities of blocks used in each drawing...

Third and final request, revision control / document management module, we like to get everything from one place, saves on compatability problems !!

Hope the suggestions are of some use, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about what I've suggested...

By the way... ZWCAD 2008i.... hello. From our ZWCAD2008 version, we support DRX port (similar with ARX in AutoCAD) to help customers develop their routine or application baciing on ZWCAD. And in our 2008i version, we add customized entities to perfect the port. Certainly, we will contiune to perfect this port to meet the customers' need.

Hi, a few suggestions:
An integrated Block Navigator - like Ale in Progecad and Navigator in Accelicad.
(Not at all easy!) Like Revit has - I think - Clicking on object (wall, window etc, in Revit) shows associated dimension. Changing the dimension changes the size of associated object. But, maybe, this can come as a by-product of ARX support.

[QUOTE=mariusdiacon]Hi Colin.
Support ARX is a very useful option in order to run interesting appz. made by several AUTOCAD developers.

Thank you for your advice. There are many users advise us to support ARX more well. We are continue developing, and I think it will be better in ZWCAD2008i.

And ZWCAD2008i will be released around the end of March. Please pay attention on it.

in continuous:

.1. DIMENSIONS:
a)When I Want f.ex rotate text of dim. change this on current style, but I don't want it, I want leave old style of dim. Any suggestions, where I can change it, any system variable??
b) dim-> text placement-> settings: when I have horizontal "over ext line2", I cant change vertical on: "above" or "outside", allways dim keep "center", how do "above" or "outside" in vertical settings?
c) I can't do copy existing dim in this way: at first I click dimens. + pick snap + .. I want do "copy" from fly menu. and other attempt do do it in this way: is the same with different objects, lines circles etc.., when I pick snap I can't use then fly menu, .. copy, rotate etc..

2. stretch: - I need after pick snap of object (stretch or stretch multiple) I use referen. like "copy", (for ex. in fly menu) , but in ZW is this not possible.. (fly menu is not funct.) something wrong with using snap object??

3. something wrong with command Command:

_TCOUNT

Select entities:
Opposite corner:
Entities in set: 5
Select entities:
Sort selected objects by [X/Y/Select-order] <Select-order>:
Specify starting number and increment (Start, increment) <1,1>:
Placement of numbers in text [Overwrite/Prefix/Suffix/Find&replace..] < Prefix>:
Command: o
Specify offset distance or [Through] <Through>:
Select entity:

.. I can't switch overwrite, o - this 'o' call offset command
4. Lost islands in associative hatched object after stretching
5. Dim - length of arc. very useful command, is possible to run it in zw
6. and in the end, background of text style (like in bentley), to working like wipeout with text on top
7. About improving quality of printouts:
there is v. useful function to improve quality of printouts in progecad, you can preset for exp. level of saturation (??? i don't remebmer how?? My test-trial period was expired) in normal speed of printing. Then you have quick print with more red color then i autocad (autocad printouts are nightmarish )

others will be soon

PS. generate it is v. good semi-copy of *** , even better then original

This is my observations of intellicad - Progecad, v. professional 2008
I've
tested it month ago, It may be useful for us
Now I'm going to test ZW (It is
downloading).. and I'm "waiting for miracle"..

1. Command rotate - without options
"reference" - using in situation, when I want rotate to object
2. key F3 only "turn off " function
esnaps, without "turn on" - ?? is this a same in
ZW?

3. I can't change right-click of
mouse for this situation: - when I chose entity, f ex. line and I want repeat
last command ("enter"), I don't want to use context menu, I want like in old
acad - in right-click have only enter. Is this possible? :-(, in ZW this is not
problem..(R. CLICK CUSTOMIZATION) GOOD!!
4. command isoline (in express)- I
can't do this when I at first click element to choose isolate (chose element
with "interested" me layer) and choose command isoline ("ile" in in "intel"cad
or press my shortcut key "ctrl+i") I can't do this - I must choose this element
once again. The analogical situation like with right-rlick (point3), when I
can't do command after choosing element. Is normal for his program? May I change
it anywere in program?
5. troubles in editing of mtext: I
must use polish fonts ;-), I have polish fonts, but I can't use it in mtext,
polish fonts are substituting by arial (this font are polish vers. ) I've tryied
change name file responsible for substituting (change name of icad.fmp file),
any different.. allways the same, mtext with good fonts, but polish are substit
by arial. But when I explode mtext to text all is ok ( - not all
:(exploding break word in place where is polish font). Any suggestions to fix
this problem?
6. Double click in text, like in
Autocad, should open dialog box.. but does't in Progecad. Is normal for its?
Only "ddedit"? Any propositions?
7. A shortage of multilines. I dont't
use (mutlilines in Autocad - misunderstanding for user.. in Bentley Microstation
is correct.. for me of course), but for order I write..
8. *.fas aplication for acad is not
correct for intellicad?
9. automatic numbering in express is
connect with settings of units, when I want 0,0000 my numbering behave the same
.. 1.0000, 2.0000 etc. Can I change of precision of numbering on numbering
level?
10.layout: Layout displays paper space
with viewport. one: I can't snap to entities of viweport when I'm in paper
space.. two: I see line lineweights only up 0,6.. is possible to see on layouts
difference bettwen f. ex. 0,15 and 0,2? any system variables? On plotting sheet
all is ok.. even better then acad ;-)
11. I can't paste for ex.
table from excel, word as entities for editing (text!). How do
it? Only using autodesk, bentley, or the other way?
12. How I can change (EDIT) pull-down
menu? - avalaible to point 3 - right-click! Have you any instructions
to customize? I tried it tool ->customize ->menu ->menus -> POP17
and: delete a couple not using shortcuts, f.ex ctrC, ctrX etc.. I did it.. ok..
but I cat't to do shortcut "enter" that is "repeat last command".. function
"redo" isn't repeat last command, it is doing anything...

I mention, that I've been user of autodesk (v12 till 2004, but versions 2005-2008
don't suits me - too complicate (I prefer work without coloured fountains ) and slower using, and all philosophy of
autodesk). I use Microstation too, but for construction drawings I need
something like Autocad (speed of drawing, and possibility work without icons) so
far.

Kindest regards

Alf

PS. Many useful functions is in Bentley, but its other story.. and sorry for my english, in particular
gramma..

Besides ARX support which is the most important asset zwcad 2008 achieved, I think a File->Save all function would be nice. It will spare me valuable time. Thank you.

P.S.: work on on DRX-ARX compatibility, DRX standard will never be a real standard if it won't have 99,9% ARX compatibility.

Hello, papadidhiu_g, thank you for your question!

I am sorry i can't understand your query exactly. ZWCAD 2007 also support object snap tracking and can be used well in my computer!
So, could you please describe the difference in details: why did you think ZWCAD2006 is better than ZWCAD2007 on object snap tracking?

Or, you can try the ZWCAD2008 BETA which has been released on 20th, Dec. And then, you can submit the query in detail.

Thank you for your help again!

i have tried enough cads products based on intellicad ! the zwcad ? one of the best !

but ... i can't understand why all products, except AXCAD lacks on the snap ? (better to say - object snap tracking !!!! )
i have seen that object snap tracking, functions better on zwcad2006 than zwcad2007 ! ( maybe i'm wrong !)

can you improve better object snap tracking ????
as example ( autocad2006 - 2008 ???? )

all the best !

I am afraid there is no "tool pallettes" which you want in current version, although it is in our plan and would be added in later version.
