QM SMOOTH SURFACE FINISH ON FLATS

Thanks to Robert Byrnes & Dr. Dan...we now can get a very smooth surface finish on flat areas with QM!!!
User was try to eliminate any bench work on parts and wanted an almost mirror like surface finish. In 6.5.1 QM would not give the desire results eventhough toolpath was within tolerance. We now have a working fix for this!
FYI
Using The fix and these setting in lacehsm we got the desired results: .0001" tolerances .00005" cusp or .004" stepover

Yeah but... they should've used different milling techniques from the get go.
It's tough to mill a 2 dimensional part with 3D milling routines.

Yes Bobby in principle you are very right here! Cuz that's is the usual practice when using genuine 3D milling processors like our QM all of them mess up pretty bad flat surfaces but still under tolerance!
Anyway the new improved remove collinear algorithms (a very long lasting dream of mine) should position well QM against competitors improving dramatic the surface finish in general and this is a very desirable feature. I anyway had positive results against traditional CAM systems with the old algorithm but now I think our surface finish is way ahead now!

Or more human in mm tol = .0025 cusp = .00125 are what I recommend too in an email made public on the forum by Bobby.
I spoke with Jim too and this is what he recommends too. I hope Jim will post a table with cusp height VS surface finish too that in principle is reiteration of my incipient guidelines.

can we have some good pictures of the milling surface? Will be very usefull material.

I will see what I can do on the pictures....
