Dear helpdesk,

When working with cad files with a couple of pictures included (jpg).
ZWcad responses very slow at zooming and paning (i used this with the middle mouse option mbuttonpan=1!) Is there anyway to solve this problem? The dwg is about 1,5MB and the 8 pictures are 600kB each. When I detache the pictures then zwcad is fast again. The problem only accurse when zooming out (zoom extended). Not when I am zooming already in detail. Then its fast again. I tested this with a couple of dwg's all with pictures and they all had the same problem. Is this a bug? Or can I do something about that?

We suggest you to set a little change to the option so that the react of zoom will be more quickly.
See as following:

Dear Jenny,

Thank you that's a real big improvement in speed for me. Also you can unload the pictures temporary (a workaround). I have a question about the next version. Is it free, like a update for the people who have bought a usb-stick (version 2008i)?

Beste regards,

Dear Nathantheone, sorry for a really late reply, the license for ZWCAD 2008 is also available for ZWCAD 2008i.

I have the same problem with Zwcad 2010.
I use some tiffs as background of my cad project and the zooming and paning is very very slow compared to Autocad.
Is there any plan to improve this?

Dear gto234

We have always been working around this problem, and now, in the coming new version of ZWCAD 2011, we have a great improvement on Raster Images, that let you Zoom and pan more quickly, this is one of the hightlight in ZWCAD 2011, just expect.

For now , I recommend you to do this as temp solution if you really feel the speed is slow. That is , use option command, in the Display tab, turn off the option "Zoom and pan with raster & OLE", so when you zoom and pan , raster will temporarily disappear, which will increase the speed.
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.
Even with the option "Zoom and pan with raster & OLE" turned off it is still very slow.
Are you going to release an update to fix this problem for 2010 or I have to buy the 2011 ver?I say this because I just bought the 2010 ver. and I have to say that I am kind of disappointed about the way it processes raster images.

P.S. If you want I can send you some of the rasters (1-10 mb) that i use, in order to see what is the exact problem because with small images (100-200kb) there is no problem.

Hi gto234,

Because the ZWCAD 2011 is coming soon, so we will not release any update patch for 2010 any more. sorry.

And I want to know what is your ZWCAD verison? You cantype "vernum" to get the detail version number.
Also, the raster processing speed depends on your hardware, you can talk about your hardware configuration to see if it can process large rasters quickly.

Thanks.

The version is VERNUM = "2010.06.30(14725.292)"
My hardware is pretty good (AMD dual core 2.9Ghz, 4GB DDR3 RAM on Windows 7 Pro 64bit).
I hope the new version addresses this issue because is kind of annoying.

Dear gto234,

I suggest you try our latest patch, which is not officially released, to see if the speed goes up or not.
It's the 8.30 update patch, you can install it on your current ZWCAD:
http://download.zwcad.com/en/Special/20100830/Update/ZWCAD2010EngUpdate_830.msi

Also, there maybe some incompatibility between ZWCAD and Win7, which may cause some speed lower down. You can try to turn off some visual style or effects when running ZWCAD. Right-click on the shortcut of ZWCAD on desktop, and select compatibility tab, choose run on win XP environment and turn off some effects.

BTW, your have really a nice computerWink
