We've had some issues when printing with raster images in zwcad. Some of our clients are only able to give us PDF versions of plans, to which we add on to them by placing them in as a .jpg object and then adding our information above that.

Works great in AutoCAD, however, the same files will not print correctly in zw. When sent to print, the raster images are not there. They are not large either, only 3mb in size. Same result in multiple printers. Preview shows up just fine, actual output not so much.

When exported to PDF, zwcad crashes these files.

Hi BryanS,

I am not quite clear about your problem. Do you mean when you print your drawing to PDF file by ZWCAD PDF plotter, some jpg raster image can't be print correctly in the PDF file?

If so, could you sent a sample drawing with jpg file to us, tech@zwcad.com? by the way, what version of ZWCAD are you using? you can get the version number of ZWCAD by command "VERNUM", thanks!

I would rather keep the discussion here as to keep the discussion available to others who may have the same issue.

The issue is 2 fold. first, when printing files with embedded raster images, the entire drawing prints, to laser printer or plotter, with no images.

When trying to export to PDF files, the file shows up as 0kb in size.

_VERNUM = "2011.02.28(16649)" (read only)

Hi , of course we can keep the disscussion here, but I also hope you can send the sample files for us to verify both of your problem.

About the first issue, what is your printer type? such as HP 650. Can you see the image in plot preview? have you tried to plot the same drawing with image by other program?

About the PDF issue, did you use EXPORT function directly, or by PDF plotter?

Thanks for the information

The two printers in question are an HP Z3200 and a Konica Minolta C250

I am working out finding a file of ours that we are allowed to share.

The PDF issue was done by Export, although we do make use of Bullzip PDF printer, which also showed no images, however, it did create a viewable PDF (but with no raster elements)

ZWCAD 2011 has an own integrated PDF plotter, you can add it in ZWCAD and have a try.

You can also have a try on our latest update that just released. Find it here: www.zwsoft.com

I know it has a PDF printer.

It seems the issue is with drawings that were created in AutoCAD and then opened in ZWCAD that contain raster items.

Also to add... the PDF export function is severely lacking. There is no way to set things such as plot settings, sizes, flattening images, nothing.

But that is for another thread.

Hi, as I suggested above, please use the ZWCAD PDF printer instead of PDF Export function. The PDF printer is much powerful than export, it can do plot settings , sizes and so on.
