Hi,
Is there anyway I can get 3D point cloud data into ZWCAD?
Cheers,
J

Hi Jason,
ZWSOFT have two products, ZWCAD is 2D software and ZW3D is 3D software. ZWCAD can't import 3d point cloud data, but ZW3D can import point cloud data without any problems.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. Please can you tell me:
1. The maximum number of points that can be imported.
2. Looking at the screenshots the points look to be 'black' nodes, is it possible to import the points RGB value or intensity value? ie Terrestrial Laser Scanning point cloud data.

3. Do you plan to create additional 'point cloud' orientated toolbars ie change point size, flick between RGB/Intensity, Slice, etc
Best regards,
Jason

Hi Jason,
1. Because I never test the maximum number we can import, you sent sent my the specify file so that I can test a try.

2. What you sew the points cloud seems like "Black note", that's because I change the points attributes so that you can see more clearly. We have some tools to change the attributes of point cloud such as the RGB value and density.
3. I don't really understand what you need in the third question. ZW3D have some usefule command to handle the point cloud data.
If you have more questions about this field, it would be efficient that talk with me by Email or Skype directly.

Hello,I have sent the dataset *.xyz file etc, via https://www.wetransfer.com/ for you. The data should look like the images below.

Hello,
With regards to the data set, you should receive an email with a link to download.
The software used for the screenshots is Pointools Pro View.
More information on Pointools can be found at www.pointools.com
More screen shots of pointcloud data from past projects can be found at www.highdefinitionsurveys.co.uk
Best regards,
Jason

HI:
Jason
The entire lines is 3280992.
And the last data is :
"-3.84820492 -5.84321437 4.37315705 86"
Is that right?

Hi,
Thats correct: 3280992 lines of data.
Last line =
X, Y, Z, Intensity Value
-3.84820492, -5.84321437, 4.37315705, 86
Have you been able to import the data?
Jason

Jason:
I have imported the data to ZW3D ,but it doesn't work as well as I wanted it to be!Sorry!
But don't worry! I'll try my best to help you! Since I was a "new" of ZW3D,I will ask my friend about it as soon as possible! As you know, they are having the holiday of " The National Day" until Oct 8th,so,is that OK?I mean, we will get the correct answer until October 8th. Could you wait for that? Or you are very anxious?Just tell me the deadline about it!
Thank you, and I beg you waiting for several days.I have sent the email to him, but I have got no response until now.
Thanks again!

Hi Jason,
can you explain what the intensity value is and what it would do for point cloud data?
e.g How you would use it for geometry?
Cheers

Hello,The 'intensity' value is the reflectance level recorded by the laser scanner of the refection received from the subject being scanned. This information helps to improve the visual impact of the 3D point cloud, especially when drawing 2D building elevations in high detail eg 'stone by stone'.

Hi Jason,The point cloud in Z3 is primarily concerned with shape and the ability to use this as such in a part.
I suggest that the reflectance value is ignored and would have no use in the environment Z3 is typically used.
However it might require a developer to definitively answer your question.
Drawing buildings stone by stone must be tedious business...

ok, its good to see ZWSoft embracing 3D point cloud data, and who knows in the future we may see it integrated further.
