Unexpected behavior of "Extract Shape" in history

Hi,

I built a small assembly in a single part, and then extracted every shape as a single part, without trouble, until I made changes.

This process is clearly documented in ZW3D help, which states:

"7 This command should be the very last in your part history. All design edits before this command should be done by “stepping through” or "redefining" the history. A regen will re-extract the edited geometry and overwrite previous names."

which makes sense.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work like that. If I made changes in a shape in the history, it seems there is no regen.

Worse than that, if I manually replay history and edit the "Extract shape" command, the tool panel displays the "Insert a component" pane.

Did I miss something or is it a bug?

ZW3D 32 bits V17.05.

I followed Tony's thread "How to do Top Down Assembly Modeling in ZW3D" and realized I didn't build properly this assembly (I'm used to CAM features of ZW3d, not the CAD world). Thanks a lot, Tony.

Nevertheless, the extract shape behaviors seems somewhat strange.

Hi Didier,

William is here ^ _ ^.

Sorry for the any inconvenience cause by the not updated help document in 1705, in fact, the "extract shape" works different between "Assembly mode"

(Regarding the Asssembly mode, you can change it on configuration.)

More detail about Assembly mode, you can refer to Help document.

So the correct explaination about "Extract shape" was corrected in 2013 SP (1710) help document.

Hi William (-;

Thanks for your comments.

I'll have a closer look, but I guess this is consistent with the top-down design thread.

I'll install the SP ASAP.

Hi Didier,

I highly recomend you to read the thread below to know more functions during interpart modeling.

(Different ways to copy external geometry )

Regards.
