Hi Chris

Can you expand upon your automation spec a bit? Cams are a big subject.......

Hi again Chris

I see you already have the parameters of your cam, so effectively the cam has been designed, but you need to model it. It sounds as though you should be able to define the shape in a single parametric Sketch, or am I missing something?

....yes, I am missing something - it takes too long to define the CAM shape manually. Also, although theoretically possible, fully parametising to allow a single curve profile would require 360 segments, a lot of work. So, an automation solution whereby the profile is defined programatically would be ideal if you need to define more than the odd part. To write such a program as a VxDAL is certainly possible but would require a fair amount of work and the programmer really needs a good understanding of cams. You might be able to find a stand-alone app that outputs to DXF for example, perhaps this one: http://www.saltire.com/cams.html. They have a free trial download, I have not tried this application and Saltire are not associated with VX Corp in anyway.
