Design Expert is powerful application package for analysis, design, detailing, drawing and scheduling of reinforced concrete and steel structures to Eurocode. It is created by structural engineers with rich experience in design of nuclear and conventional power plants, industrial, public and residential buildings all over Europe. The application is simple and cost effective solution, with nice and friendly user interface and it is very easy to learn. The package includes different modules for design and detailing of foundations, columns, beams, shear walls, stairs, slabs, etc.

Quick and easy data input

Design Expert has nice and simple user interface with clear structure and minimum set of options, needed for design of buildings. You have to select materials, section type, dimensions and loads and then you get the results. You can enter the input data in tables or by drawing in the integrated Design Expert CAD environment. In all cases, you have very good graphical representation on screen that helps you to avoid input errors.

Design

Design Expert includes powerful algorithms based on numerical methods that can design sections with arbitrary shapes for complex spatial loading. User manuals include detailed review of the theory background and design methods. All calculations have been verified by many worked examples over the years. Some are included in the manuals so anyone can verify them.

Detailing

Main advantage of Design Expert is the excellent integration between design and detailing. You can save a lot of time and avoid errors from transferring the data between both stages. After the design is complete, you can use the input data and the results to generate the reinforcement details within the same program. Code requirements for anchoring and splicing of bars, minimum and maximum diameters, bar and link spacing, reinforcement ratio etc. are embedded in the software. They are automatically applied or checked in order to get quality and code compliant drawings. Eurocode 8 requirements for seismic elements are also included for different ductility classes (DCL, DCM and DCH).

Drawing

Drawings are created first in the integrated Design Expert CAD environment. You can export them to bitmaps or metafiles, generate AutoCAD command script files or print to pdf files or printers. You can also connect to external CAD software like AutoCAD or ZWCAD via COM programming interface and transfer drawings directly without any intermediate files. The output uses simple CAD objects like polylines, circles, dimensions and texts. Reinforcement is compatible to the Reinforcement Detailing Plug-in and can be additionally modified and scheduled in Auto-CAD/ZWCAD.

Scheduling

Reinforcement bending schedules and bill of materials are generated automatically. General and BS8666:2005 formats are supported. This program has a unique algorithm for automatic shape code recognition. You can draw any bars just by clicking with the mouse and you do not need to know what is the shape code and dimensions A, B, C etc. This information is collected automatically for you.

Reporting

Results are presented in professional looking HTML reports with text, graphics and tables and can be printed on any computer. HTML files can be opened with any web browser, editor or office program.
