ZWcad 2011 and AutoCad 2000 software
Plotter is HP DesignJet 430 using version 4.69 latest driver and
the accuracy of the plotter is specified as +/- 0.015" of vector length.
I understand that humidity will effect the paper, all measurements were taken immediately after plotting.
Problem example: ANSI "D" size drawing with 1.000" "X" and "Y" grid drawn on it and plotted.
Line distance accumulates in the "X" direction, i.e.
12.000" = 12.037", 24.000" = 24.075", 30.000" = 30.125"
Line distance decreases in the "y" direction, i.e.
20.000" = 19.985" (seems to be within accuracy spec)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may post.

I am not quite familiar with this plotter, may you tell me where to set the accuracy of +/- 0.015" ?
And we do not have such a plotter here to test, so I can only install the driver and plot to file, but you know, it's hard to tell whether the accuracy is correct on screen.
I suggest you try some other software to plot, and test the accuracy(such as you mentioned Autocad). And also try to set the plot quality to high level. Hope it can help you.

Thank you for your feedback.
The accuracy of +/- 0.015" is not a setting you can make; it is the resolution specified in the HP manual that came with the plotter.
For you to test the plotter by printing to file probably will not so any inaccuracies.
Your suggestion to also do a test plot using Autocad is a good one and I will try to find time today to do that. I will post the results here.
I will also try the ZW plot again using the "High Quality" setting and let you know.

Using AutoCad 2000 I did the same grid layout and plot all from scratch.
The results are as follows:
"X" direction 12.000"=12.040", 24.000"=24.085", 30.000"=30.115"
"Y" direction 20.000"=20.000"? un-measurable error if any
As for your suggestion of plotting in "High Quality" setting; using ZWcad 2011 and previous test plot from the first post at the start of this thead. No change in accuracy, same results/same errors.

From you test result both in ZWCAD and AutoCAD, I find them very close to each other. So I doubt that maybe the printer itself is not so accurate as it claims to be.
You'd better contact their support for more info. Thanks.

I agree with you. This plotter is quite old now and I suspect there may be some slippage of the carriage mechanism going on. Unfortunately for me, my company tries to operate as lean as possible and would rather share profits with employees than capital equipment. Only when a piece of equipment completely wears out to the point of being non-repairable will it be replaced.
Thanks for your insight.
