For the convenient of all users, here post the thread drawing method and some related dimension notes.
Thread Parameter
Tooth type: The tooth type is the contour of the thread on the profile which go through the screw axis. The angle between two adjacent tooth profiles called d tooth type angle. The common tooth type of the common thread is triangle and the angle of the tooth type is 60 °.
Large Diameter, Small Diameter, Middle Diameter.
Large diameter refers to the imaginary diameter of the cylinder or the cone which is collocated by the tooth top of the external thread and the tooth bottom of the internal thread. The large diameter of the external thread is represented by d while D represent the large diameter of the internal thread.
Small diameter refers to the imaginary diameter of the cylinder or the cone which is collocated by the tooth bottom of the external thread and the tooth top of the internal thread. The small diameter of the external thread is represented by the d1 while the D1 represent the large diameter of the internal thread.
Imagine that there is a cylinder or cone in the middle of the large diameter and the small diameter. The width of the tooth equal with the width of the slot in the axis section. The diameter of the imaginary cylinder calls middle diameter, which is represented by d2 or D2. It is as figure 8-1 shows.
Figure 8-1 Thread Parameters
Line Number: The number of the spiral line which form the thread calls line number. There are single tread and the multiple thread, the multiple thread is distributed evenly in the section which is vertical to the axis.
Pitch and Screw Lead: The distance at the direction of the axis which is adjacent to the middle line of the two teeth is called the pitch. On the same thread line, the distance at the direction of the axis which is adjacent to the middle line of the two teeth is called the screw lead. The relationship between the number (n),pitch(p) and the screw lead is S=n.P
Handedness: Along the direction of the axis, the thread twirl clockwise called right hand thread while the counterclockwise thread called a left-hand thread.Thread tooth type, large diameter, pitch, the line number and rotate are known as the five elements of the thread. Only when all of the five elements are same with each other, can the internal thread be spined close with the external thread.
