Setting Drawing View Style... how to do this?

Hi Guys,Z3 2014. I want to keep the Drawing View Settings but the save is disabled. How do I record my choices so I can make it part of my Drawing Template Style?

And how do I control the settings for section views etc. Would be nice if the Sections inherit the parent view setting.
Then you can edit the attribs. later - as long as the customisations stick.
Cheers

Hi Paul, good discussion.

I never notice the first problem, the Save button is disabled during creating the view, but it was available again when you RMB and change the view attributes.

Regarding the Section, as I know, the section view inherit the parent view attributes as default except one option below.

Because most of situation, the section view will not shows the hidden line, that's why this button always turn off but not inherit the parent view.
Do you have any good suggestion we can improve it?

Hi William,
thank you. Good response too.
OK - I can change from the Attribute side. No problem with that.

Now it gets tricky...
I choose save and type in the name of my Custom Style but I get told this name already exists but NO option to over write or update. I am forced to type a new name. But how to do I make this my default style and how do I revise or update it?

The option to update an existing style MUST be available.

Actually I think I should be able to control this from Style Manager, or choosing Save should bring up Style manager.
Having hidden lines turn off in Section View is a good idea.
Cheers - Paul

Hi Paul,

I gave you inaccurate answer yesterday.

In fact, you can save as the style when creating view.

So the reason you see the Save as button is disable is that, you changed the default attributes but not the style attributes.

Why I say that? and what is the difference between default attributes and style attributes ?

We call default attributes only save in style manager as default option but not cover the style.

For example, those view attributes below only works as default attributes, even you can change when creating view, but they don't store into the style.

Actually, several attributes in Dimension also belong to Default attributes but not the style attributes.

Regarding your second doubt, why changing the style attributes unable save to the existing style?
That's what we are thinking, we hope that all the user can set up their style firstly in Style manager, but don't want them changing the style optionally by creating or editing attributes.

For example, you already create a new style name "AAA", and there 100 entities such as dimension in the drafting use this style, when you create a new dimension and change one attributes to "AAA", this will make all other 100 existing dimension what using this style be changing together.

we don't hope this situation happen, we hope the user can make decision to change style in Style manager cautiously.

That's why we don't offer the ability to save the attributes for the existing style. you have to go to style manager to do that.

but you are right, maybe bring up Style manager is good idea, because this will remind user you are changing the global existing style, you have to be careful.
