I wrote a gear calculator for early-version VX. Unfortunately it is incompatible with new VX. I hope to have a new program available in the near future. If you only require gear models, you should be able to find them for download on a manufacturers website.

RMB/Open the variable in History, then RMB/Edit the Expression value. Enter the new value/OK.
If your Configuration/Part setting is Regen after edit, you'll see a new gear in moments.
Helical gears can be modeled (not sure the profile is absolutely correct for this, but a good visual for modeling) using Sweep.
Roll back to Curvelist2 when the profile is complete. Then insert a sketch normal to the profile and place a straight line (path), from the profile origin, what ever distance you want. (You could have added a variable for gear length(at top of history) and then used this for the dimension).
Alternately insert a 3D line/Offset, this is where a variable comes in really handy for controlling the line length as you do not re edit the line but just change the variable.
Then Sweep the gear profile along the Line path and Choose Advanced/Twist and set the angle.
Presto! a Helical gear look alike.
Now Edit the Tool_Num.1 Variable and see your gear grow teeth and diameter.
Or you use the Twist Extrude command!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dwang - never used it! Brain malfunction...... etc....
Interesting excercise to do both an Extrude Twist & a Sweep twist. as seperate bodies then move one so you can compare. They are different outcomes. IMO the sweep is the one you should do for this model.
