Figure 1. LEGO® Toy
Design the Head Step 1: Draw the outline on the sketch, and create the part of the head accordingly by Revolve. Then turn the edge into filet as below by Filet.Figure 2. Use Revolve and Filet to create the head
Step 2: Use Texture Map to attach a texture image to the head, giving the toy a big smile.Figure 3. Map a texture image onto the head part
Design the Arm Step 1: Create a sketch on XZ plane to get a track, then use Sweep Rod to get the rod model along the track with the radius and fillet of 2mm. Then, create a hole at the center of the end plane, for inserting its hand afterward.Figure 4. Create a rod with a hole
Step 2: Draw a line and create a surface to trim the solid part, then add a pillar with filet to this surface.Figure 5. Finish the design of the arm
Design the Armor Step 1: Create a profile sketch in XY plane and a path sketch in YZ plane.Figure 6. Create a profile sketch and a path sketch
Step 2: Use Sweep to get the sweep surface according to the two sketches created just now.Figure 7. Create the sweep surface via the profile sketch and the path sketch
Step 3: Use a sketch to trim the side surfaces, then add two spheres to them. Of course, you can finish this step by different methods.Figure 8. Create the surface for the armor
Step 4: Use Shell or Thicken to covert the surface above to a solid part. Then add some details such as circles and stripes.Figure 9. Create a solid part for the armor
Step 5: Use a boundary curve to create a dome surface on the back of the armor, then finish other detail design for it.Figure 10. Design the back of the armor
Up to now, I’ve shown you how to design LEGO® parts with sketch, solid modeling, and surface modeling functions. Next, free your imagination and create LEGO® parts as you like in ZW3D.Figure 11. Other parts for the sample LEGO® toy
After designing all the parts, you can assemble them to finish the whole LEGO® toy by ZW3D Assembly tools, and bring it alive by rendering.Figure 12. The assembled LEGO® toy and its rendering effect
Have you understood the tricks about LEGO® toy design? Why not start creating a special gift for your lovely children right away? Finally, happy Children’s Day! May you and your children always keep a childlike innocence. For your better experience on our website and the display of relevant information, cookies will be used. Learn More
