Fast Toy Modeling by ZW3D Surface Function

A professional surface function for your product design is essential. A fast and efficient solution will bring a unique concept to the user during the design process.

This article will focus on how to use the intuitive commands for the modeling of complex surface parts, as well as how to use the surface function to achieve general product design.

Here I would like to show you how to use the common command for rapid toy modeling. Below can be seen the effect of the finished product.

Follow the steps outlined below.

Step 1, Draw an outline of the toy in 2D sketch.

Figure 2: Outline Curve

Step 2, Extrude the main outline as auxiliary surface, and then use Dome feature to create the main body base to tangent with the extruded surface.

PS. Build an auxiliary surface to ensure the surface is symmetrical, that it is usual. It would help to ensure a continuous relationship between the two edges of the original surface and the mirrored surface.

Step 3, Project the characteristic curve to the main face along the Y axis. Trim the empennage and belly.

Step 4, Use the Dome command to reconstruct the surface.

Step 5, build the solid features;

Step 6, subtract the solid features (such as the eyes and the embossing) from the regular feature

ZW3D hybrid modeling can help users to establish characteristics more quickly, especially in a surface modeling environment.

You can operate Combine intuitively, no matter what object is the surface or solid. As in this case, we can build the solid to insert some regular features into the surface, simply by using the Combine_Rem function.

Step 7, Refining & Fillet

Step 8, Mirror & Sew.

Short Description

ZW3D provides lots of tools to meet the design requirements of multilateral surface models. This easy-to-use modeling method can make it easier for users to build the gadget that they want. It lets you design according to the actual requirements, and so choose the best method, the most reasonable design, and create a high quality surface.

After that, it is easier to transfer the design in to reality with a 3D printer. ZW3D supports a variety of 3D printers seamlessly. Now you can invent cool and unique new products in a flash by yourself.
