ZWCAD is a powerful CAD software widely used for 2D drafting and 3D modeling. Occasionally, users may experience an abnormal crash where ZWCAD fails to launch and displays a crash report with the message: “ZWCAD has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

This FAQ explains common causes of this issue and provides step-by-step troubleshooting methods to help you fix this problem.
Cause: ZWCAD requires specific versions of the Microsoft .NET Framework to run properly. If the required .NET Framework components are missing or the installed version is incompatible, ZWCAD may fail to launch or install.
Solution:
Step 1: Right-click the installation package and extract it (if there is no extract application on the computer, just install one).

Step 2: Follow the picture below, and open the [prerequisites] file folder in the extracted package, which contains the installation package for .NET Framework components.

Step 3: Install the .NET Framework program in the file folder, and launch ZWCAD again after the installation.
Note:
In some cases, it’s because there is something wrong with the .NET Framework components that are already installed on the computer. Please uninstall them in the control panel, then use the files in the ZWCAD installation package to install them according to the steps above described.
Due to the .NET Framework components being included in the Win10 and later systems, it cannot be manually installed.
Cause: Graphics drivers that are outdated or incompatible with ZWCAD can cause startup failures or crashes.
Solution:
Update your graphics card driver to the latest stable version provided by your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel).
Ensure the driver supports OpenGL 4.2 or higher, as required by ZWCAD.
Cause: When launching ZWCAD for the first time, insufficient user permissions can prevent the program from starting correctly.
Solution:
Right-click the ZWCAD icon, and choose Run as administrator to launch it. After launching the software for the first time, you can directly double-click the ZWCAD icon to open the software next time.

When ZWCAD experiences an abnormal crash event, it may generate a crash report containing relevant environmental info about where the issue occurred. This report can be provided to the ZWCAD Support Team to obtain a solution to the problem.
Click on the Start Menu, select ZWCAD, and then click CrashReport Manager. In the dialog that opens, you will find a list of error report information for ZWCAD. You can further click Open Folder to access the location where the error reports are saved, and inside you will find the content of the error reports, which you can copy and send to ZWSOFT (zwcad@zwsoft.com) .

By following the above steps one by one, most issues related to launching the software can basically be resolved.
