Craftsmanship and Design Working Seamlessly Together

Steurer GmbH in South Tyrol has earned a reputation for creating interiors that feel personal, elegant, and expertly crafted. Their work spans kitchens, bathrooms, bespoke furniture, and complete room concepts. What makes the company stand out is its ability to manage everything in house. Designers and craftsmen work side by side, ensuring that each idea moves smoothly from concept to workshop without losing the creative intent behind it.

As demand for fully customized interiors continued to grow, the team faced increasing complexity. Architectural plans arrived from different partners, customer expectations rose, and more projects required detailed technical planning. To maintain their high standards, Steurer needed a more efficient way to manage the entire process from planning to production. That need opened the door to a new solution.

When Complexity Made the Process Less Fluid

Figure 2: ZWCAD is used for every project at Steurer and helps the team to build the highly customoized furniture for their exclusive customer base.

A typical Steurer project begins with architectural DWG files that must be transformed into precise planning documents. From there, designers create visualizations, refine details, and prepare exact technical drawings for the carpentry workshop. Each step requires accuracy and reliability. As project volume increased, their existing tools made it harder to maintain that precision.

DWG files from architects did not always load cleanly. Moving between planning and visualization required switching tools. Comparing drawings with external partners added extra steps. And since the carpentry workshop depends on flawless production drawings, any inefficiency introduced pressure on teams and timelines. What once felt like a smooth, tightly connected workflow began to feel fragmented.

A Recommendation That Marked a Turning Point

The turning point came from a longtime client who was already using ZWCAD. Interior designer Michael Nagler remembers how naturally the suggestion appeared.

A client of mine had been working with ZWCAD for some time and was very satisfied,” he says. “He recommended I get in touch—and since then, we’ve been proud users of ZWCAD.”

Encouraged by that firsthand experience, the team decided to explore the software. What they found was a platform that matched their workflow almost immediately. The onboarding experience confirmed their decision. Designer Renate Oberleiter recalls how quickly she adapted to her new tools.

Figure 4: Renate Oberleiter, Interior Designer, started to use ZWCAD right from her first day at work without any problems.

“On my first day, I was already working with ZWCAD. The interface was simple, and I was productive right away. Of course, you learn the shortcuts over time, but getting started was easy.”

That simplicity removed the usual hesitation that accompanies software changes. It gave the designers confidence that ZWCAD could support their daily pace without slowing them down.

Daily Workflows Strengthened by a Single Platform

Once ZWCAD became part of Steurer’s process, the entire workflow began to move with more clarity and speed. Architectural DWG files could be opened reliably, allowing designers to begin work immediately without losing time to format issues. From there, the team moved naturally between 2D plans and 3D visualizations inside the same environment, refining ideas without switching between tools.

With each stage connected inside one platform, communication between designers and craftsmen strengthened. Projects flowed more predictably, and the company’s signature precision became even more consistent.

Improvements That Strengthened Quality and Efficiency

The transition to ZWCAD brought several important improvements:

New designers became productive on day one

  ● DWG stability strengthened collaboration with architects

  ● Planning and visualization occurred in one streamlined workflow

  ● Production drawings gained greater reliability for workshop use

These benefits allowed the team to focus more on creativity and high quality craftsmanship rather than on navigating tools or correcting file issues.

Supporting Creations Rooted in Detail and Individuality

Every Steurer project is built on a commitment to individuality. Customers expect interiors shaped precisely around their needs and preferences. Reliable tools play a central role in delivering that promise.

Company founder Kurt Steurer explains the importance of having a solution that supports the entire process.

“We do all the planning internally—from the first sketch to visualizations and technical details,” he says. “ZWCAD enables us to manage this full process seamlessly, which is essential for keeping quality high and turnaround times short.”

With support from their technology partner encee and the ZWCAD extension Swiss AllCAD, the team is now exploring new ways to automate complex workshop processes. ZWCAD serves as the stable foundation for this growing digital ecosystem.

A Partnership That Strengthens Their Mission

Steurer’s work is rooted in craftsmanship, individuality, and precision. ZWCAD supports that mission by offering a platform that helps designers and craftsmen collaborate more naturally.

“Our strength lies in creating individual solutions,” Steurer adds. “ZWCAD makes that possible—efficiently, precisely, and reliably.”

From concept to production, ZWCAD has become an essential partner in bringing Steurer’s distinctive interior designs to life.
