If a sketch has not yet been created, refer to the previous guide on selecting a sketch plane and entering sketch mode. Once you have selected a sketch plane and entered sketch mode, the next step is to create the 2D geometry that will define your 3D feature.
ZW3D offers a Quick Draw command that allows multiple geometry types—lines, arcs, circles, and curves—to be drawn without switching commands. In the sketch environment, click the Draw button to activate Quick Draw

Press and hold the Alt key to access additional arc modes. Click the middle mouse button to exit.

Quick Draw tool supports drawing lines, tangent arcs, 3-point arcs, radius arcs, circles, and curves in a single continuous workflow.
For users who prefer dedicated commands, each tool is also available as a separate button in the Sketch tab.
The Point tool places reference points in the sketch. Points can be constrained using dimensional or geometric constraints to fix their positions. Points serve as reference locations for constraints, dimension origins, or as center points for subsequent circles and arcs.
Method:
Select the Point command, then click at the desired location on the sketch plane.

The Line tool creates straight line segments in the sketch. Lines can be constrained horizontally, vertically, or at specific angles using the constraint tools.
Method:
Select the Line command, click to specify the start point, then click again to specify the endpoint. Continue clicking to create connected line segments.

There is also a Polyline command in the Line tool.

The Circle tool creates circular profiles in the sketch. Circles are often used as profiles for extruded cylinders, holes, or revolved features.
Method:
Press and hold the Alt key and select the center point, then enter the radius value or pick a point on the circumference.

The Arc tool creates curved segments. Use tangent arcs to create smooth transitions between straight and curved segments.

ZW3D supports several arc types:

The Rectangle tool creates rectangular profiles. Rectangles are commonly used as profiles for extruded blocks or as cutout boundaries.
Method:
Select the Rectangle command, click to specify one corner, then click to specify the opposite corner. The rectangle is created with horizontal and vertical sides.

The Polygon tool creates regular polygons (triangles, hexagons, octagons, etc.).For irregular polygons, use the Line tool with geometric constraints to construct the desired shape. Polygons are used for hexagonal bolts, nuts, or other multi-sided features.
Method:
Select the Polygon command, specify the number of sides, click to define the center point, then specify the radius (circumscribed or inscribed).

The Ellipse tool creates elliptical profiles. Ellipses are used in designs requiring oval or rounded profiles, such as pipe cross-sections or cam shapes.
Method:
Select the Ellipse command, click to define the center, then specify the major axis endpoint and minor axis endpoint.
The Spline tool creates smooth, free-form curves through multiple points. Use splines for complex organic shapes, curved pathways, or stylized profiles. The curvature comb display helps evaluate smoothness.Splines can be controlled by control points, tangency handles, and curvature constraints.
Method:
Select the Spline command, then click to place a series of points. The spline passes through each selected point, creating a smooth continuous curve. In Quick Draw, press and hold Alt for the first three points, then continue selecting additional points without holding Alt.

ZW3D offers a complete set of drawing tools that cater to virtually any 2D sketching need—from simple lines and rectangles to complex splines and slots. Understanding each tool's purpose and the Quick Draw workflow significantly improves sketching efficiency.
